Kowa TS-9 Compact 50mm Spotting Scope with 11X 33X Zoom Eyepiece

Whenever NRO is lucky enough to find one of these very well-built Kowa TS-series scopes, we're always impressed with the crisp, high-contrast views they provide. From the rugged, thick-walled stamped-aluminum body to the BK optical glass and beautiful greenish-gray textured enameled finish, these scopes exude build quality.

This particular model (TS-9) is prized by hunters and birdwatchers alike for its compactness and portability; estimated date of manufacture circa early 1980s; very rare even in Japan. Wide helical focuser makes it easy to attain pinpoint focus.

11 x 33 zoom eyepiece provides magnifications in the sweet spot for comfortable viewing with good eye relief. Length, 23.5 cm / 10.5 in; weight, 624 g / 22 oz. In field testing of this scope, the self-focusing eyepiece adjusted smoothly, and the BK glass objective gave stunningly bright, sharp, and satisfying views.
